Goodhart Named Tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler as Hempfield Sends Five Wrestlers to Districts

Despite starting as the 3rd seed, Joey Goodhart (285 lbs.) made perhaps the biggest impression of the District Three Class AAA Section Three tournament held at Hempfield High School on February 16.  In a thrilling match, Goodhart delivered a knockout blow to defending sectional champion Tom Devenney of Warwick in sudden victory in the semifinals and then finished his productive day by winning in the finals.

Not to be overshadowed by Goodhart’s performance, Hempfield wrestler’s Aidyn Miller, David Good, Tommy Bennett and Jordan Stief will join Goodhart in Hershey on Friday, February 22 for districts.  Aidyn Miller started as the 5th seed, but wrestled his way to a 3rd place finish at 113 lbs.  David Good began as the 4th seed, but ended the tournament with a 2nd place finish at 120 lbs.  At 182 lbs., Tommy Bennett came in as the 3rd seed, but fought his way to an impressive 2nd place finish.  Finally, Jordan Stief held true to form as the 2nd seed and placed 2nd in the tournament at 220 lbs.

Congratulations to all of the Hempfield wrestlers and good luck in districts!
