Hempfield Knights Defeat ELCO Raiders 44-26

Behind the strength of 6 Pins and a Tech Fall, Hempfield soundly defeated Elco last night in the home opener for the Black Knights, 44 – 26. Starting the team off with a thrilling 9-6, come from behind victory, in the 3rd period,  was  Brady Mathias at 182. Hempfield then reeled off 4 straight falls, beginning with Tommy Bennett, Jordan Ortiz, Joey Goodhart, and Brandon Hartman.  Aidyn Miller got the fall at 120, and David Good surprised many of the Elco faithful by storming passed Chad Pullio, 16-1, to get the tech fall, and 5 more valuable team points. Following a mini run by Elco, Alex Gainer put the finishing touches on the victory by pinning his 160 pound foe to the mat in 2:30. A couple of newcomers made their way into the starting line-up, Chris Detwiler at 113, and Chase Ortiz at 152.  Next up is the always challenging Carlisle Holiday Tournament on Friday, December 13 and 14th, which will be the Black Knights first taste of an individual tournament.
