For the first time in 4 years the Black Knights beat the Warriors on the mats last night. Hempfield jumped to an early lead thanks to wins by Jordan Ortiz, Joey Goodhart, and Brandon Hartman. Following a couple of losses, David Good turned in the performance of the night at 132 pounds. Trailing his opponent, veteran Logan Stroh, 2 to 1, in the 3rd period, he slowly and methodically turned Stroh to his back for the Fall. Last year Good was pinned by Stroh in the dual meet. That match sparked a 6 match winning streak for the Knights in the middle weights, as they put the match out of reach at that point. Freshman Luke Granbois at 138, won 12 -7, Evan Brown , at 145, won 6-4, then came 3 straight falls by Tyler Reber, Alex Gainer, and Brady Mathias. Tommy Bennett topped off the evenings final match with a decision to make the final score an eye-popping 50 for the Black Knights, and 16 for the Warriors. Great win for Jude Bervinchak and his young team!
