Congratulations to John Walizer for being announced as the new Hempfield High School Head Wrestling Coach! What an amazing opportunity for Hempfield High School and all of their wrestlers and families!
John Walizer wrestled at Bald Eagle-Nittany High School 1985-87. While in High School, John was a District VI Runner Up 2X, and a Junior National Freestyle and Greco Roman team member. In 1986, he took 6th place in the US Open Senior Freestyle tournament. John wrestled …Division I at Bucknell University where he served as team Captain 1990-91. After college, he was the Head Coach at Bald Eagle-Nittany High School where his program was District VI Dual Team Champions 1996,1997,1998, District VI Individual Team Champions 1997,1998 and North West Regional Champions in 1998. John coached 2 PIAA State Champions and 1 PIAA State Runner up. In 1996-97, Coach Walizer was named District VI Coach of the Year. In 1998 he coached his team to be ranked the #1 Dual Meet PIAA AA Champions. Coach Walizer went on to coach Hershey High School from 1998-2008 and the last 2 years Hempfield was fortunate to have him coach the Hempfield Junior High Program to a 24-3 record. Not only is John Walizer a champion coach but also an established and well respected educator. John is a math teacher at Hershey High School and is a two time Cornell University Star Scholarship Recipient (Merrill Presidential Scholar Award) for his dedication, outstanding performance and commitment to education and our children.
