Completed in the summer of 2017, the Barn Wrestling Facility has been the home for Hempfield area youth, middle and high school wrestlers who want to improve and refine their techniques beyond the traditional Hempfield High School wrestling program. While it is a club and not officially associated with the Hempfield Wrestling program, many Hempfield wrestlers take advantage of the many training sessions, camps, and opportunities to develop advanced skills.
The Barn was conceived, created, and built by former Hempfield wrestler Jim Schopf, who competed for the Black Knights in the late 80s. Jim graduated from Hempfield in 1990 and has been involved in Hempfield Wrestling ever since. He and his wife, Andrea (who used to go to High School wrestling tournaments on date nights), have worked together with a group of other dedicated wrestling parents and coaches to grow the Barn into an amazing training facility for the Hempfield wrestling community.
